3 verses with lyrics- The first two verses are written in B flat, then a key change transitions to the key of C for the final verse. The first verse uses octaves in the left hand in different combinations of quarter notes and eighth notes. The right hand plays the melody with a three-note chord. For the second verse, a simple rolling eighth-note pattern with moving harmonies is used for both hands during the verse, leading to a chorus that incorporates a four-note right hand chord and lots of triplet movement for the left hand. A key change to C announces the beginning of the third verse, which climaxes with lots of arpeggios and big leaps across the keyboard, accentuating the powerful lyrics.
This setting is appropriate for congregational accompaniment, offertory, prelude and more.
