We had a crazy couple days of travel getting home from vacation— some weather delays, mechanical issues, and even an issue with a malfunctioning seat on a plane that caused a delay, but these @americanair pilots made this flight super fun for Raylen and Asher. When the flight attendants greeted the kids as we got on board, both kids said hello, and the pilot immediately turned around and invited them into the cockpit to give them a little tour, a collector card, and their own “wings.” ✈️ This was a majorly delayed flight, and they could have been grumpy about it, but they chose to just make it fun anyway, and it made our day!
Attitude is everything. Inconveniences are a part of life. If you look for the “happy,” you’ll find it, even on a crazy day.
You’ve probably felt the heaviness of the last week just like I have…A weight that seems to just overshadow our lives, especially with too much social media consumption. At the same time, I have felt challenged too— challenged to be MORE bold about my faith in Jesus and belief in strong, traditional family values… challenged to love my family well, and raise my children to be ambassadors for Christ— to be counter-cultural and passionate for the Lord.
Those are not messages of hate— they are messages of truth, rooted in a deep love for the Word of God, the ultimate source of truth. Our nation needs revival and a return to godly principles— may we as Christians be willing to stand up for right and boldly proclaim the hope we have in Jesus.
I’ve had these words on my mind… (lyrics by Lanny Wolfe)
Some men try so hard to prove
That God’s not really real.
While others say they know for sure,
His love you cannot feel.
But I know He’s real within my soul,
For one day He cleansed and made me whole,
And Jesus is still the answer
For that longing deep in your soul.
Jesus is still the answer
And though time and ages roll
Jesus is still the answer
He’s the answer for your soul
And though some may say
He doesn’t fit with their philosophy
I know Jesus is still the answer
He’s always been and always will be.
💙
Fresh air isn’t just good for your body. It’s good for your heart and spirit too. 💕 When my friend Jen, who owns Buck Gap Blooms said, “You should bring the kids up for the day,” I said, “Let’s do it,” and brought a few friends along too. Jen is a wealth of knowledge about flowers, but her sweet testimony of coming to Jesus and her heart for missions blessed me SO much, as we got to spend time just fellowshipping and enjoying God’s beauty on her farm. What a sweet day… Thank you, God, for this life!
💙 Sunday 💙 I love these two littles. Over the last few weeks, and especially last week, I’ve given more hugs and snuggles to them, stopped doing dishes or laundry to build block towers and go play on the swing, and just enjoy their little stories and giggles. Life is such a vapor. Every day we’re given is a gift from God. We get one life…One short life compared to all eternity. May we use it wisely for God’s glory!
(Swipe to see how Asher felt about taking photos this morning. 😂)
Heard our friends @thecollingsworthfamily sing this Monday night, and it’s been in my head since then, so I figured I’d share it. I LOVE these words. 💙 The music is beautiful too, so that combo makes a great song. 🙂
When you woke up this morning, no matter what happened yesterday, you had new mercies from a loving, faithful God who cares so much for you! Such an amazing (and true!) thought…
Happy Wednesday 💙
Some Saturday encouragement from Asher 💙 We are doing the Deep Roots Bible study from @notconsumed with the kids right now, and today’s lesson was God’s Love is Faithful— such a sweet reminder that He never changes, and He’s always good!
(This is not an ad— just sharing what we use for our family to bless other families. 💕 We really love these studies for family Bible time. They’re easy-to-understand for the kids, and always have a fun (and simple) activity page for each lesson. There are so many to choose from. We just finished one on how to treat your brothers and sisters, and we’re doing The Fruit of the Tongue next. I highly recommend them!)
(Also, Asher is recovering from a little trip in the woods:) he’s fine, and his little lip is looking much better! This kid plays VERY hard. He is all boy!)
I had someone request a tutorial for the song “I Must Tell Jesus” (E. A. Hoffman) in a comment on my YouTube channel, so I thought I’d share it here! Songs in 9/8 can be intimidating, but they don’t have to be! Here is a pretty basic way to get the “feel” of the rhythm down.
Here’s a one-minute walk through the store we switched to TWO years ago this month! It simplified my shopping, let me get all the clean essentials in one place, and it’s made a big difference for our family.
I came because of a before and after picture of the results from the Renew lotion, looking for a solution for Asher’s eczema. I stay for the amazing products I found here.
Every week, I hear testimonials of people getting healthier, saving money, and blessing their families because of this place.
I don’t sell a thing, and I’m not a distributor. I just can’t help but share it, because we truly use and love these products.
I’m so glad I made the switch!! Same dollars— just a better store.
If you want to know more, I’m hosting a Messenger Party where I’ll walk you through my house and show you how it all works! Comment JOIN if you want to be added to the group to learn more:)
You know who should shop here too? Anyone who brushes their teeth, washes their clothes
💜 Raylen sang her first solo last night in church… We told her we’d go out for ice cream if she sang it, and she thought that sounded pretty good. 😅 Our prayer is that she always sings for Jesus! God is so good, He does answer prayer, and He is coming soon! 💙 (Our main auditorium is being repainted, so we had church in the fellowship hall:) The Lord gave me some physical strength, and I was able to go to church yesterday, which was an answer to prayer!
💕Happy Happenings💕 Raylen started violin lessons a couple weeks ago. She’s been so excited to learn! Her teacher has her students tell her a joke at the end of each lesson, which is so adorable. Raylen is already working hard on next week’s joke…and learning resting position and rhythms for “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” 🎶💕 She loves any chance to get fancy, so her little outfits from @thecraftandcloth have been perfect! (She’d wear that maxi pleated white silk skirt every week if I’d let her. 😅) We love this boutique— super cute little girls clothes!
There are quite a few things about the last couple weeks I’m happy to forget. 😌 Thank God for good anesthesia and modern medicine… But there are many things I hope I never forget— extra cuddles from Raylen and Asher, more time with Josh, gifts from friends- beautiful flowers, a lovely painting, a dear friend, books that are encouraging my heart, a pretty bracelet, some time canning peach preserves with my grandmother, delicious meals from our church family, sweet texts and messages from loved ones who are praying for us… I’m in an odd place of finding peace in grief, beauty in the slow healing process, new trust in my Saviour, and new appreciation for little things. God is teaching me more about Him through weakness— things I could never learn if I felt strong in my own strength. So I will thank Him for this season, even though it’s complicated, messy, and kinda painful. He is good, and He can be trusted.
I’m saving these verses here because they have been especially comforting the last few days. I’ve heard from so many other women who have walked the road of miscarriage and multiple losses, as we have this past week. My heart hurts for those who have experienced this too. I have found much comfort in God’s Word, as I remind myself what I KNOW to be true about my Heavenly Father— that He is good, and only does good…that His thoughts are not my thoughts, and His plans for me are perfect. If you’ve walked this road too, my prayer is that these verses will strengthen you and remind you of His kindness, even in a hard season. 🩷
